Post-CalArts and Tumblr

I'm sorry blog. It's been waaayyy too long this time!
But 2014 has proven to be the most eventful year. Therefore, super busy!
Here's a small list of what happened this year:
- Sold my soul to my last film at CalArts
- My film made it into the 2014 Producer's Show (yay!)
- Graduated from CalArts (still can't believe it!)
- Moved up to the Bay Area
- Been getting a steady stream of freelance work

I also started a Tumblr that I post on more often just because it's a bit more convenient.
But I still feel like I owe to myself and this blog to put something on there.
Here is a link to my Tumblr for more of my work:

So without further ado, here is my last film at CalArts!
I can say, that I had so much fun with it and I can watch it without cringing. So, big step for me! Haha.

And here is a little painting that I did for the holidays.
I haven't used acrylic paint in a while and I remember how much fun it is.
So I sucked it up and it didn't turn out so bad!

I'll be traveling until the beginning of January, but I will do my best to put something on this blog once in a while.
I do miss it!
Happy Holidays and stay warm!

Double Crunch Time

Hello blog! It's been a while :P
I'm usually good about posting, even if it's a little bit.
But my fourth year at CalArts has been super busy.
I made a design portfolio this year and I've sold my soul to my film.
Check out my design portfolio! It's at the top tab that says "Design Portfolio."
With my help of my awesome character design teacher, Nate Wragg, I managed to put together a portfolio that I actually had fun doing.
And with Portfolio Day coming up, the crunching has doubled.
I'm hoping the next time I post won't be when my film is done. I'd like to update my blog with my film progress as I move on to cleaning and coloring my animation.
For now, here are a few backgrounds from my film!

End of the Semester

This semester's been going by so quick that I didn't even realize how long it's been since I posted!
I think it's the story of everyone's lives :P
I just wanted to post some concept art that I did for my film.
It's a table of food for zombies!

(It's a very long image so it will probably be best to view in a separate window!)

Product Designs

For this week's assignment, Nate Wragg wanted us to design a character advertising a product.
It was really fun, but I think I focused too much on the overall look instead of the character :/
I ended up doing 2 because I liked both ideas and I couldn't decide.
I had the sketches done early so I was able finish!
They're not quite character designs but thats ok :P

My Favorite Breakfast (as of now)

I just wanted to do a quick painting of my favorite breakfast.
It's rice with scrambled egg and Japanese furikake (rice seasoning).
Yum!

Zombies Galore!

Here are my film characters!
And they are all zombies. Because I love zombies and I've always wanted to do a film about them.
I dressed them up in fancy menswear from the 1920s because they are going to attend a tea party.
So I basically put all the things that I love together for my last film at CalArts.
Zombies, menswear and afternoon tea.
It's only my first pass, so I still have some revisions to do!
(their feet are all the same size... oops...)

I'm also thinking I should give them names at some point.
That could be fun.

The drawing above is for Nate Wragg's character design class.
His class is amazing and I'm learning a ton from him!

More zombies and zombie paraphernalia to come!

Breaking Bad!

I have forgotten about my blog for a while!
School has already started at full force, but it feels good to be back.
It's my last year at CalArts so I'm going to make it a good one!
I hope to start posting some film sketches and character designs soon.
But until then, I am mourning the end of one of my favorite shows.
So sad, and so happy.
